Blitz and his siblings were rescued from an unfit home by a friend, who knew I was looking to adopt a cat and offered me a kitten. He was only 12 weeks old when I brought him home, and as this is written he's 6 years old! As a kitten he was spunky, going bonkers on any toy presented to him. In his younger days he had quite a naughty streak, trying to nibble his way into cat & dog food bags and occasionally knocking things over when racing around the house after a toy.
These days Blitz enjoys lazy days of sleeping on the couch and still loves looking out the window as the world goes by. When he plays, he lives up to his name! He's lithe, quick and can leap great distances. He has bright green eyes and luxurious, glossy black fur with a couple of patches with white hair mixed in. In the sunlight, subtle tabby stripes appear, showing that he's actually just a really dark brown cat! His favorite toys are ones that mimic birds, he loves being up high and gazing down at us, and salmon and tuna are his favorite treats! (though any treat will do!) He's a lovey guy, preferring to sit with the family and get lots of petting and attention, and is very quick to give us a slow blink!
When it seemed that Blitz was lonely while we were away at work all day, we decided to try to find a companion for him. On a chance visit to a kill shelter, a little face with huge golden eyes pushed its way to the front of one of the cubicles. Grey fur, a crinkled up ear and persistent meowing got their attention, and it was love at first sight.
Once Max arrived at his new home, it was time to make friends with the resident Blitz. Max was eager to make Blitz's acquaintance, but Blitz was not so sure! Surprisingly, it took only a few days of uncertainty and keeping them separated before the cats were able to be near each other and content to both be in the same room. From there on out, the friendship blossomed.
As it turns out, Max's crinkled ear was caused by a hematoma that wasn't drained until after scar tissue formed. Once it drained, it kept the shape. Fortunately it doesn't hurt or cause much trouble with his hearing, it just looks different. It was found out that he also has a broken tooth and an old chip fracture on one of his legs. We aren't sure what happened earlier in Max's life to cause the injuries, but we're glad to be able to give him a good safe home where he'll always be loved and appreciated!
Max is a big bundle of cute! He loves to roll on his back and put his feet in the air, and he's incredibly curious. Every day he walks the house sniffing everything and exploring every nook and cranny. He likes for things to always be in the same place and likes it best when his people are home and giving him attention! Max is the first cat we've met who doesn't like fish! He prefers cheese or milk flavored treats, and he'll only eat moist cat food that is poultry or red meat. His favorite kinds of toys are balls and mice, and he is learning to play catch with one of his favorite balls!
